About us

The Red Whistle is a health and human rights volunteer organization. We are a collaborative platform for people to come together and show their support to people living with HIV, people of diverse SOGIESC, and people with mental health lived experiences. It is also a partner for brands to show their support for these communities.

The Red Whistle Turns 10!

Who would have though that a mission started by a group of friends in 2011 will last ten years and change the game in HIV awareness?

The Red Whistle turns 10 this year with the theme "Tayô Tayo"— let's stand up and rise together.

HIV and AIDS

The easiest way to differentiate the two is by getting the last letters of each name. the V in HIV stands for Virus, and the S in AIDS is for Syndrome. The Virus can enter the body and if left untreated can turn into AIDS, a syndrome.

Transmission

HIV can only be transmitted through the following- Unprotected penetrative sex, Blood and blood products and Mother to child transmission either through birth or breastfeeding. Mosquito bites, sharing of utensils etc. cannot transmit the virus.

Prevention

Abstinence is the only 100% way to prevent sexually transmitted HIV but if this is not possible, correct and consistent condom use is the next best thing. Sharing of needles is also highly discouraged. Regular HIV testing will also help you and your loved ones.

U=U

Undetectable is equals Untransmittable means that a person living with HIV with an undetectable viral load can not transmit HIV to others.
